President Trump Releases Proposed Budget Calling for Drastic Cuts in Federal Health Spending

President Donald Trump released his first proposed budget on Thursday, calling for $1.1 trillion in discretionary spending for the 2018 fiscal year with a projected $488 billion deficit. The budget calls for significant cuts in spending for the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Education, State, Housing and Urban Development and the Environmental Protection Agency, which would help to offset a $54 billion increase to defense and homeland security spending.
