Trump Administration Considers Issuing Waivers To Allow States To Alter Medicaid Guidelines.

The Wall Street Journal  (3/14, Armour, Radnofsky, Subscription Publication) reports the Trump Administration is considering allowing states to impose work requirements, premiums, emergency-room copayment, and other possible changes to their Medicaid systems. HHS Secretary Price and CMS Director Seema Verma issued a letter to governors on Tuesday promising to work with them on waivers to allow them to experiment with new approaches to Medicaid. The Journal writes the waivers may allow states to shift the eligibility rules to narrow them. Price said in his letter he would approve meritorious innovations to state’s Medicaid programs.
